Our Five Pearls


The Most Honorable Arizona Cleaver Stemmons—Arizona Leedonia Cleaver Stemmons was born in Pike County, Missouri.  She pursued her graduate and post-graduate studies in social work at Howard University. It was on the campus of Howard University that Honorable A. Langston Taylor and Honorable Charles Robert Taylor, of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., encouraged her to start a sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.


The Most Honorable Myrtle Tyler Faithful—Myrtle Tyler Faithful was the second Grand Basileus of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, blood sister to Founder Viola Tyler Goings, and a Life Member. Founder Myrtle Tyler was born in Flushing, Ohio. Upon receiving her high school diploma, she matriculated at Howard University.


The Most Honorable Viola Tyler Goings—Viola Tyler Goings was born in Flushing, Ohio and is the biological sister of Honorable Myrtle Tyler Faithful. Upon graduating from high school, she went on to further her education at Howard University in Washington, D.C. It was there where she joined forces with our other four pearls to form Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.


The Most Honorable Pearl Anna Neal—Pearl Anna Neal was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. Early in life she showed an exceptional love for music. She attended Lincoln Academy in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Upon completion of her studies at the Academy, she entered Howard University where she earned a Degree in Music.


The Most Honorable Fannie Pettie Watts—Fannie Pettie Watts was born to Attorney Foster B. Pettie and Fannie Rollins Pettie. After completing her secondary education in Savannah Public Schools, she matriculated to Georgia State College. After a few semesters there, she went on to complete her teaching degree at Howard University. It is there that she met four other positive and like-minded individuals to become a co-founder of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
